Elected The New Lord Mayor of Dublin 28/6/2010
Gerry Breen was born and raised in Clontarf and is married to Maeve, with three daughters. He was educated at Belgrove National School, Coláiste Mhuire and UCD where he received a Bachelor of Commerce Degree.
Gerry has his own business First Aid Supplies for the past 10 years.Previously he worked in marketing and sales roles with Smith+Nephew, Cheseborough Ponds and Irish Biscuits.
A member of Fine Gael since 1981, he was first elected to Dublin City Council in 1999.Re-elected in 2004 he is the Fine Gael Group Leader.
He is a former member of Dublin City Council’s Traffic and Transport Strategic Policy Committee and the Planning, Development and European Strategic Policy Committee.
Presently, he chairs the Council’s Arts, Culture, Leisure & Youth Affairs Strategic Policy Committee and is a member of Dublin City Development Board..He is a director of the Dublin City Enterprise Board and is a member of the Dublin North Central Area Committee and was elected chair twice.He also serves on the protocol & selection committee.
He was a founder of Dublin Bay Watch in 1999 and his priorities as a councillor include proper planning and environmental protection.
Gerry was elected as the first Chairperson of the Health Service Executive Regional Health Forum for Dublin and North East,2006-2007.
